Niuheliang Site of Hongshan Culture is located at where Jianping County ofChaoyang City (Liaoning), Lingyuan City (Liaoning) and Kharatsin Left-Banner MongolAutonomous County (Inner Mongolia) meet between Liaoning Province, Hebei Provinceand Inner Mongolia. In the1940s, Tong Zhuchen, a famous archaeologist, discoveredhistorical relics with features of Hongshan Culture there, based on which site excavationbegan in1983. By the year of2003,16relic sites, including ash-pits, sacrificial pits,stone-mound tombs and altars of the Hongshan Cultural Period, have been found, with alarge number of potteries unearthed.Comprised of4parts, the paper is focused on the study of potteries excavated fromNiuheliang Site of Hongshan Culture. The first part, the formation of the hongshanculture sites: according to the “Niuheliang Excavation Report on A Hongshan CultureSite (1983-2003)“and on the basis of all Niuheliang Site excavation report, to introducethe relation of layers of the each part of Niuheliang Hongshan Culture Site and thepottery study.The second part: According to the typological of pottery,divide thepotteries into three groups, and then,solve the problem of the Niuheliang Sitestaging,devide into early, middle and late3period; The third part:By the stages,comparing the early, middle and late of Niuheliang Site stages with the important Site ofthe early, middle and late of the the Hongshan Culture Site,for example, the Hongshanculture relics found in the north and south of Xar Moron River, in order to furtherdetermine Niuheliang site of Hongshan culture and cultural attributes. The fourth part,conclusion: basic knowledge on Niuheliang staging and relative age, characteristics andchanges in contact with the Niuheliang site each period pottery, put forward some newknowledge, including the Niuheliang site early pottery from the north of the ShirazMulun River pottery factors, in the late of pottery from the Central Plains YangshaoBanpo phase four and the Xiwangcun type at the same time, also suffered from the WestLiao River Haminmangha culture pottery influence factors, while the Niuheliang site inthe affected foreign pottery factor at the same time, still retains the characteristics ofearly pottery Niuheliang site, forming the fusion of multi culture, reflecting the socialbackground of ancient formation period. Finally, I hope that through this study analysis, to understand the Niuheliang Hongshan Culture Site gets some new ideas.
