With the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War, the Modern Chinese Literature wascharacterized by an overall spatial shift in the1940s. The former literary centers likePeking and Shanghai were successively occupied by Japan, however Chongqing theauxiliary capital, located in the southwestern China, because its special political functionand so on, became the new literary center in the1940s. Then with the outbreak of theAnti-Japanese War and the shift westward of literary centers, many writers had to go intodispersion and were stranded in the southwestern borders of China. In the wartime andthe dispersion, they suffered from the displacements and separations, then fell into thedeep of misfortune. The huge contrast of the former and later life highlighted themeaning of Chongqing the new literary center, which took the place of Peking andShanghai, and made clear to all that the characteristic of the dispersion of the modernChinese Literature.Therefore this paper will research and interpret the writings of Chongqing exiledwriters in the1940s., then try hard deeply to discuss the common experiences of thedispersive writers in Chongqing. This thesis grasps the writer identity, the life experience,the subject matter of the writers, the artistic style and so on, to display the relationshipswith the place、the people and the writings in exile.The introduction mainly recommends this thesis’ research contents and basicapproaches, research outlines and the innovation and value. The text has four chapters:The first chapter discusses the formation of Chongqing’s exiled experiences in the40sand the common mental experiences of the exiled writers after arriving Chongqing. Afterthe outbreak of the Anti-Japanese, the Nanjing national government moved the capitcal toChongqing for ruling security to make Chongqing as a Chinese political、economical andcultural center. Hence the formation of the Chongqing’s dispersive phenomenon resultedfrom the opportunities of the auxiliary capital, and then dispersive writers came intobeing at this time. The second chapter mainly introduces the themes of this exiledwritings. In the exiled writers, the enlightenment discourse and the class discourse beforethe Anti-Japanese War turned to the era of Anti-Japanese national discourse, reflected theawakening and the outburst the writers’ life consciousness and national consciousness under the special circumstances of the war. The third chapter focuses on the aesthetictendencies and literary creative strategies of the exiled writers due to the environmentalimpact of the times. Chongqing as the rear of the war, in great need that literature canplay social functions.Therefore, to seek popularity and popularization, became commonguidelines of wartime artists. The fourth chapter describes the interaction of the exiledwriters and the Chongqing Literature in the1940s. The dispersive writers wroteChongqing, China, and the Anti-Japanese War, which left a rich cultural heritage for theChongqing Literature and the Modern Chinese Literature. Meanwhile, Chongqing theauxiliary capital during the war, also provided valuable creative materials and preciousspiritual wealth for writers. In the wartime, the exiled characteristics of the ModernChinese Literature occurred and developed in the interactive relationship with the peopleand the city, and even after the writers left Chongqing, also produced the profoundsignificance and impact.
