The progress and development of contemporary society, human’s construction of culture and application of materials all contribute to strengthening connections among different cultures and thus a new cultural system is formed. Modern art is not only art itself, but is also related to the complex society and culture. The realization of social changes as well as the requirement of a new visual sense or new technologies drives modern sculptural art to open up a new field. My writing idea comes from the sculpture in the19th century. It returns to the real life and establishes a relationship with the reality, reflecting people’s actual life. This change can also be found in my artistic work, for example, the change of the material and making method. At the same time, abstract sculpture gets rid of the visually-fixed shape and pays more attention to the conceptual form of expression. This is a revolution of vision and concept, which will bring change in spatial perception and make artistic work show limitless freedom. The thesis first gives the characteristic of contemporary sculpture. That is the increasing appearance of organic image, which is brought by the change of time and space in sculpture. The change of contemporary sculpture can also be found in my artistic work, which gives my artistic work characteristic of its own-the innate space of organic image. It is a redefinition of sculpture and space, aiming at researching the relationship between different objects. The thesis consists of five chapters. Chapter one gives a brief explanation on the aim, significance, method and scope of the research. Chapter two offer s background information of the thesis and defines the basic categories and the developing stages of organic image. Chapter three analyzes the relationship bet ween my artistic work and the current research situation of the innate space of organic image. Chapter four the theme and making process of my artistic work. Chapter five is the conclusion and shows my view of the innate space of contemporary sculpture’s organic image.
