Disposal Constructions Of Wu Dialect In Southern Zhejiang Province

With the practical investigation, description and induction, analysis and comparison methods, this article studies the disposal constructions in southern zhejiang province. Through syntactic, semantic and pragmatic analysis, this article discusses the diachronic and synchronic problems to promote awareness and understanding of the south Wu dialect.The preamble describes the study of current conditions of disposal constructions, the Writing Purpose of the article, research methods, corpora sources and so on. South Wu dialect means dialects of Taizhou, Lishui, Jinhua, Quzhou and Wenzhou in southern Zhejiang province. South Wu dialect is complicated and various with abundant research value. Studying on the disposal constructions will do good to promote the research of South Wu dialect grammar and Chinese disposal structure.The second part makes an all-round study of the disposal constructions in south Wu dialect which can be divided into two categories, one with marks while the other without marks.The disposal constructions without marks which exist in great quantity have two forms:"N+VP"and"Nl+N2+VP".There are many disposal marks.Na/Wo marks:Bo,Na and Dan; Gei/Bang marks:Bang, Dai and Feng; comitatives marks:Ze. The structures of disposal constructions are various which involve typical disposal structure, resumptive pronouns structure and prepositional objects. Every structure’s usage is by region. The predicate of disposal constructions cannot be a bare-verb, it must be a complex VP. Vp can be verb-object pattern, verb-complement pattern or verb reduplication. It is popularly believed that the origin of disposal structure is Chinese serial verb sentence and disposal marks come from notional verbs.There are similarities and differences of south Wu dialect. Disposal prepositional objects can be patient and agentand.Disposal structure has the causative meaning.Every dialect has it’s own personality and disposal preposition. Some dialecs have the common marks of disposal and passive constructions.There are two disposal marks which are Bang and Dan in Longyou dialect, they go through the grammaticalization from verb to preposition.The third part compares south Wu dialect with north Wu dialect reveals generality and individuality of Wu dialect and explores into the historical origin and formation mechanism. On the one hand, north Wu dialect uses Na and Bo as common disposal marks while south Wu dialect uses Bang and Dai. On the other hand, the resumptive pronouns structure is common in north Wu dialect.
