Research On The Disposal Structure In "Er Pai"

"Er Pai" is compiled by Ling Mengchu. It is thegeneral name of the two large collections of short stories that are named "Paianjingqi" and "Erke Paianjingqi". "Er Pai" was written in the years of ChonZhen king during the Period of the end of Ming Dynasty. It is the first short collection which is created independently created indeed. As a collection of great historical value contributing to linguistics, "Er Pai" can reflet the oral Chinese in late Ming Dynasty comprhensively, showing oral linguistic features during the first half of the 17th century.As a special kind of sentence structure in Chinese grammatical system, disposal structure is one of the signs which mark the Chinese grammatical system moving towards perfection. In terms of its distinctiveness in synatictic structure and the important role it plays in the Chinese grammatical system, it has always been a main point of the Chinese grammar studies.In this paper, we have made a comprehensive description and exposition on the disposal structure in "Er Pai" at syntactic structure, semantic relation and pragmatic traits, adopted a multi-layered approach to indicate its features in the period of modern Chinese language, and ultimately inferred its developemt in this transitional phase. Studying the disposal structure in "Er Pai" is a good way to understand this book, and it has some reference value for having a further understanding of the features of Chinese in modern period. Being a certain book grammar studying, his paper intensively focuses on studying the disposal structure of "Er Pai" including five parts.The first chapter is the part of the introduction. It is mainly focuses on the transferring versions of "Er Pai", the present studying status of "Er Pai" and the disposal structure, this paper's scope of study, research methods, and research value.The second chapter mainly analyses the syntactic structure of the disposal structure in "Er Pai". Starting from the features of syntactic structure, In this chapter, we divided the sentences of the disposal structure in "Er Pai" into positive and negative two categories firstly. Then, we made a more painstaking classification Description according to the differences between sentence elementsand structure types. It was found out that the syntactic structure of the the "ba/jiang" kind of disposal structure in "Er Pai" is very flexible. The predicate have diversified forms. They can be bare-verbs, verbs plus adverbials or verbs plus dynamic auxiliary words, complements, objects and so on. There are two negative adverbs "bu" and "xiu" in the negative sentences. The positions of the negative words are non-fixing, they can be placed before the preposition "ba/jiang", also the main verb, and they can be placed in the complements after the main verb, too. What should to be point out is that placed the negative words before the preposition "ba/jiang" is the most common use. The disposal structure in "Er Pai" also has some special structures as combining the "ba/jiang" type of use and the "bei" type of use, "ba/jiang" and "lai", "ba/jiang" and "ge(xie)" etc.The third chapter mainly analyses the semantic relation of the disposal structure in "Er Pai". In this chapter, we made a classification study according to the semantic relationship between the phrase marked by the preposition "ba/jiang" and the main verb in detail. We find that, the types of the semantic relations of the disposal structure in "Er Pai" are various, almost including all of the types that exist in the modern Chinese. In addition, when compared with the disposal structure in ancient Chinese, their semantic functions are increasingly improved. Among them, the "ba" and the "jiang" type of use are roughly the same, with slight difference in the meaning that "jiang" has no definition of "dang zuo (as)" like "ba".The fourth chapter mainly analyses the pragmatic features of the disposal structure in "Er Pai". In this chapter, we provide a comprehensive description and analysis on pragmatic features of the disposal structure in "Er Pai" by studing the object's sub-topicality and the semantic focus marker features of "ba/jiang". The study identifys that in the "ba/jiang" kind of disposal structure, it will be the sentence's sub-topic if the object of "ba/jiang" appears after the main topic. "ba/jiang" as the preposition for disposal will be the focus marker of the whole sentence, which serves to highlight the focus, with the object cited as the sentence's semantic focus.The last part is the conclusion of the paper. In this chapter,we made a comprehensive summarization of the characteristics of the disposal structure in "Er Pai" at syntactic, semantic and pragmatic, and make a recapitulative explanation of the all paper.
