The research on teaching foreigners Chinese characters is lagging behind relatively.there are many reasons for this situation. As "Zi-centered method" is putting forward, Many scholars began to do research not only based on the theory of teaching English as a second language, but also use the own features of Chinese characters and raised relevant theories of Chinese character teaching.The motivation of Chinese characters has implied that Chinese character teaching should be based on the features of the Chinese characters. One of opinion of "Zi-centered method" is that The Chinese characters is the basic and minimum unit of the Chinese. In other word, Chinese character teaching is very important in teaching Chinese as a second language. This paper analyzes the reason of stopping foreign students to learn Chinese, especially for those overseas students who come from a culture in which Chinese characters are totally new for them. This paper also analyzes the shortcomings of the current Chinese character teaching method, based on those research, this paper put forward the "six scripts theory" to help Chinese character teaching.Based on the theory of "six scripts theory":Xiangxing; Zhishi; Huiyi; Xingsheng. This paper use the theory of Chinese character motivations to interpret the process of teaching Xiangxing Zi; Zhishi Zi; Huiyi Zi; Xingsheng Zi respectively Combining the writer’s practical experience of teaching Chinese character.Finally, this paper discusses the prospect of using the theory of "six scropts". At the same time, this paper shows an example of teaching Chinese character in practical teaching.
