Judgment of learning refers to the possibility of recall about individual learning materials in the future test. JOL is important in the self-directed learning because of its causal roleā€”via peopleā€™s allocation of study time or their study choices. Previous studies have indicated that the individualā€™s JOL is influenced by various factors, such as the difficulty of the material or the relevance of the pair word, practice times or learning time, participantsā€™ mood states and so on. However, these factors will influence JOL accuracy to be different degrees. But some researchers have explored perceptual information, such as color态the type or size of font that affect JOL. However, previous studies on perceptual information in this field only involved the effect of font size or volume size of single words on immediate JOL and recall performance, without delayed JOL and the accuracy of JOL. Therefore, based on previous studies, as breakthrough point to auditory perception of information, by manipulating volume sizes of paired words, this research is designed to explore the influence of volume sizes on JOL and its cause. The study includes two experiment designs. Experiment1is a two-factor mixed design to explore the impact of volume size on JOL and JOL accuracy in the condition of immediate JOL and delay JOL; on the basis of the first experiment, the next experiment is conducted to investigate the account of the effect of volume size on JOL under the condition of immediate JOL. Specifically, regarding Learning Time as a measure index of encoding fluency. The Experiment was designed to show Whether encoding fluency generated by quiet volume and loud volume is a potentially powerful influence on JOL.The main conclusions are as follows: (1) The size of volume can affect JOL value and absolute accuracy under the condition of immediate JOL, JOL and absolute accuracy of the loud volume word pair is significantly higher than the quiet volume word pair; But JOL and absolute accuracy have no significant difference under the condition of delayed JOL.(2)The size of volume does not influence recall performance at fixed-space study mode, namely,The recall performance of the loud volume word pair and the quiet volume word pair have no significant difference under the condition of immediate JOL and delayed JOL.(3)The size of volume have an effect on individual study time at self-spaced study mode, the study time of the loud volume word pair is significantly shorter than the quiet volume word. Study time is the measurement index of encoding fluency, it shows that JOL is affected by the size of volume just because of encoding fluency.
