Procrastination is a complex process containing the cognitive, emotional and behavioralelements. Ever since1970s, procrastination has gradually attracted the attention of overseas researchers inthe field of organizational behavior. After thirty or forty years’ efforts and exploration, they haveaccumulated rich theoretical and empirical achievements in this field. However, our country’s concernabout this issue is still in an earlier stage, what’s more, we have less involved in the empirical research inthe work procrastination. As for the intensive study of work procrastination problem, it not only helps toimprove the organizational efficiency, and also explains formation mechanism of such psychology,therefore provides research idea and reference direction for the prediction and intervention of workprocrastination. In this research, the subjects are specific to the securities company’s marketing personnel,which have the directive significance on the practical work such as recruitment, training and occupationalplanning.In this dissertation, I adopt literature review, personal interviews, questionnaires and otherresearch methods based on Chinese culture, to work out the questionnaire of the work procrastinationbehavior of marketing personnel in the securities company, and discussed the relationship among workprocrastination behavior, self-efficacy, employee’s traditionalism and work performance of marketingpersonnel in the securities company. The exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis,hierarchical regression analysis, structural equation model and such statistical techniques are involved. Themain conclusions are as the following:Firstly, the content structure of the work procrastination behavior expressed in the marketing personnel in the securities company consists of three dimensions, that is, procrastination in the initiation,in the midway and in the completion. Three-factor theory model is well built and the reliability andvalidity of the questionnaire have achieved the psychometric requirements.Secondly, this research discussed about the demographical variable’s effects on workprocrastination behavior. The demographical variable included sex, age, marital status, work experienceand education. We found that the demographical variable except sex had some significant effects on somedimensions of work procrastination behavior.Thirdly, this research discussed the relationship among work procrastination behavior, self-efficacy, employee’s traditionalism and work performance. It was discovered that self-efficacy wasnegatively correlated with work procrastination behavior and positively correlated with work performance.Moreover,the research discussed the mediating effects of work procrastination behavior by hierarchicalregression analysis. We found that work procrastination behavior was the partial mediation in therelationship between self-efficacy and work performance.Fourthly, this research discussed the moderating effects of employee’s traditionalism. We foundthat employee’s traditionalism was the moderator in the relationship between work procrastinationbehavior and work performance.
