This paper is composed of two parts:translation and critical commentary. The original text for translation part is excerpted from My Mom is a Spirit (《我的妈妈是精灵》),a much claimed children’s fantasy fiction by Chen Danyan, a renowned writer at home and abroad. The critical commentary is focused on the strategies of Chinese-English translation for children’s literature. My Mom is a Spirit tells a moving story in lively language, and has very distinctive cultural characteristics. By analyzing the translation of its different descriptive languages, we can, based on the attempt in question, expand our understanding of the strategies for Chinese-English translation of children’s literature. |
