In recent years, with the advancement of science and technology, mobile phones have become increasingly personalized and intelligent.Middle school students are in a critical period of physical and mental development. In the face of feature-rich mobile phones, they are prone to mobile phone addiction.Previous studies on addiction have shown that peer is an important predictor of adolescent addiction, and there is also a close relationship between self-control ability and substance addiction and behavior problems. In order to verify the relationship between peer mobile phone use and mobile phone addiction, and the role of self-control in the two variables, this study used a self-made peer mobile phone use questionnaire,a self-control questionnaire for middle school students and mobile phone addiction index to investigate 700 students from 2 ordinary secondary schools in Kaifeng. The study conducted statistical analysis of data through independent sample t-test,one-way analysis of variance, correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis, and reached the following conclusions:(1)The self-designed peer mobile phone use questionnaire for middle school students consists of three dimensions:perceived peer attitude towards mobile phone use, perceived peer mobile phone use behavior, and perceived peer pressure.A total of 24 topics are included. Both reliability and validity of the questionnaire achieved the requirement of psychometrics.(2)The detection rate of mobile phone addiction among middle school students was 18.9%,which was at a medium level.(3)Compared with girls, only children and day students,boys,non-only children and boarders in secondary schools are more likely to be addicted to mobile phones.(4)The more the peers use mobile phone, the more positive the peers' attitude towards mobile phone use,and the greater the peer pressure, the more likely the middle school students will become addicted to mobile phones.(5)The influence of peers on middle school students' mobile phone addiction will be weakened as the self-control ability of middle school students increases.
