This thesis is based on the author’s practice in Chinese-English sightinterpretation. A simultaneous interpreter has to keep pace with the speaker, followthe principle of syntactic linearity and use various kinds of tactics, such as prediction, segmentation, and conversion.Compared to simultaneous interpretation without text, sight interpretation isrelatively less difficult. In a way, an interpreter can proceed at his/her own pace.Doing well in Chinese-English sight interpretation will help an interpreter succeed inChinese-English simultaneous interpretation because there are some similaritiesbetween sight interpretation and simultaneous interpretation. This thesis gives an analysis on the similarities and differences in the word orderbetween Chinese and English and put forward some tactics accordingly, hoping topromote the learning in Chinese-English sight and simultaneous interpretation.
