Constructing an indicator system or scorecard for higher education is published byUNESCO. Higher education evaluation is becoming more and more widespread innationwide, and it plays an important role in promoting China’s higher educationdevelopment, therefore learning from foreign countries’ experiences is necessary.Shanghai Education Evaluation Institute entrusts the author to translate Chapter1to5ofConstructing an Indicator System or Scorecard for Higher Education into Chinese, whichis the hardcore of the article.As an academic article, it contains specific ways of expression and unique linguisticfeatures, which require not only well-knit structure, clear expression, but also concisewording. Therefore the translator should be equipped with relevant professionalknowledge and insure the preciseness, accuracy and standardization of the translationversion.This practice report aims to discuss and find ways to solve the problems anddifficulties in translating on such academic English articles through analyzing thevocabulary and syntax features of the source text, so as to make it available and valuablefor reference about these sorts of translation.
