With the rapid development of science and technology and the frequent internationalexchange, scientific English, which is the information spreading instrument and thecarrier of international science and technology exchange, is playing a more and moreimportant role now. China is a large country in the world, its rapid developmentdetermines its significance in international affairs and China will participate in thoseaffairs more actively. So the translation of scientific English will play an important rolein China’s future development and better participation in internationalaffairs.Scientific English has very distinct language and stylistic features. Although thereare a lot of researches on scientific English translation both at home and abroadnowadays, there is relatively few researches on environment-related scientific English.Environment problem is a great challenge for countries all over the world andenvironmental protection tends to be internationalized and globalized. Exposed, writtenby an American writer Mark Schapiro, is based on the environmental condition changeand has certain practical significance. This practice report takes the sixth chapter ofExposed as an example and is divided into4chapters: the research conclusion ofFunctional Equivalence theory and the current research development status, translationtask description, translation process description and translation practice conclusion. Thetext is also analyzed from the aspects of syntax, style and translation strategies. Languageand stylistic features of Exposed and the problems of translation under the guidance ofFunctional Equivalence theory are elaborated in this report.This practice report aims at finding out a translation guidance theory aboutenvironment-related scientific English. Through the analysis of typical sentences,corresponding translation strategies and techniques are discussed in the report. It is alsopointed out in the practice report that familiarity with language and stylistic features ofenvironment-related scientific English and flexible use of these translation strategies andtechniques can help a lot with future multi-dimensional scientific English translation.
