Due to the difference between the Chinese and Western culture, Chineselanguage and English language has huge difference in terms of syntax, which makes itharder to translate English texts into Chinese. According to Nida’s “Functionalequivalence” theory, to preserve the content of the message, the form must bechanged so that the receptors of the message in the receptor language respond to thetranslated text in substantially the same manner as the receptors in the sourcelanguage. This thesis analyzes the syntactic structure and semantic features of theattributive clauses, discusses the translation skills and techniques, and explores howthe functional equivalence theory contributes to the choice of translation techniques. |
