With the accelerating process of economic globalization and the rapid development of China's economy, the destinies of all countries are getting more and more interconnected. As necessary means of overcoming foreign language barriers and achieving economic and cultural communication, translation activities have received increased attention in recent years.Trade has become an increasingly important part of China's overall economy. With deepening of economic globalization and increasing competition among countries,we should know more about the economy of other countries if we want to remain invincible in economic competition between nations. So the translation of economic texts is extremely important. In view of this, the author takes the English version of Cracking Economics as the original text, analyzes the translation problems and discusses the solutions from the perspective of functional equivalence theory in English-Chinese translation practice. The translation of the selected text in the report aims at the conciseness of the language expression, the accuracy of the meaning transmission and the directness of the reading effect. Therefore,on the basis of the English-Chinese translation practice of Cracking Economics, the author finds that the language of the text is accurate, coherent and highly professional, and that there is frequent use of abbreviations and terminology. Moreover, there are lots of attributive clauses in the process of translation.Given this,in English-Chinese translation practice, translation problems of attributive clause are divided into restrictive attributive clause and non-restrictive attributive clause from the perspective of functional equivalence theory.Relevant solutions are put forward.Pre-attributive flexibility,post-attributive flexibility andmixing flexibility are used to solve the translation problem of restrictive attributive clause.Division flexibility, merger flexibility and adverbial flexibility are used to solve the translation problem of non-restrictive attributive clause. The author also summarizes how to translate attributive clauses in this kind of texts into Chinese with faithfulness, completeness and coherence so that the target language readers can almost have the same understanding as source language readers, and will better achieve functional equivalence in English-Chinese translation practice. The author has improved the ability of information processing, language expression and translation flexibility through the translation practice of the report. And the author hopes the report can provide some reference for solving the translation problems in related fields in the future.
