Due to the differences in historical background, language culture and living habits between the United States and China,it is often difficult for translators to achieve complete equivalence in the translation of attributive clauses between the two languages. This report is based on the translation practice of Helping Your Child with Friendship Problems and Bullying. The translator will focus on the grammatical difficulties of attributive clauses and discuss what translation strategies should be adopted in the process of translation. In this text, there are many languages about psychology, which have a particular speciality.Among them, the authors also use a large number of attributive clauses to explain the specific situation, conduct scientific inquiry, make professional answers and so on.The attributive clauses itself are complex, and Chinese and English have different methods in the use of the attributive clause,so it is often difficult to translate them. Therefore, under the guidance of Nida’s functional equivalence theory, the translator will discuss in detail how to translate the attributive clauses in the text correctly.Nida’s functional equivalence theory holds that translation should not achieve literal equivalence by formal correspondence, but should pay attention to the functional equivalence between translation and original text. Therefore, under the guidance of functional equivalence theory, the translator will focus on the problems encountered in translation practice, and analyze the attributive clauses from structural and semantic aspects to get the best translation method in psychological text translation.Through the analysis and research of the selected texts, the translator,on the one hand, hopes to learn further translation methods, improve translation skills, and play a specific reference value for the translation of other similar texts. On the other hand, the translator believes that this book has a high research value for the majority of readers, and may play a particular auxiliary role in reducing the phenomenon of school bullying.
