Attributive clauses serve as attributes to modify or define people or objects. They are usually placed after the head-words, which is different from Chinese whereattributes must be placed before head-words on most occassions. Therefore, when translatingEnglish attributive clauses into Chinese, translators are supposed to take into considerationthe features of the clauses themselves and their semantic relationship with the matrixsentences, as well as the structural differences between Chinese and English sentences, toachieve appropriate Chinese translation.
