A growing number of scholars all over the world are facing the difficulty of getting their work published in international journals. Publishing in high-ranking and international journals to some extent means publishing in English-language journals. Thus, Writing in English becomes an obstacle for non-native speakers in non-Anglophone countries.Academic Writing in a Global Context-The politics and practices of publishing in English, was published by Theresa Lillis and Mary Jane Curry in 2010. It analyzes the difficulties and risks of about 50 non-native English speakers in writing and publishing English scholarly works and present a new text-oriented approach to scholars. This book is an informational text. And nowadays translators tend to translate an informational text by literal translation, which causes an information loss in the target text and makes it difficult for target readers to get the essence of the source text. This translation project includes an E-C translation of the fifth chapter of the book and a translation report. Drawing on the translation, the report analyses the application of translation compensation strategy in an informational text, and at the same time analyses translation difficulties and its solutions in the translation practice. It aims to provide a practical guidance for an informational text translation.
