Nowadays, a lot of people are in the study of Tsangyang Gyatso and his poems, however, Nie Xiaoyang, using his unique angle of view and words in the book The Most Beautiful Reunion in The World of Mortals: Practice Together with Tsangyang Gyatso searches Tsangyang Gyatso’s inner emotion and wisdom of life. As the work of a native writer, this book has had no English version till now, so I try to translate it. This translation project report is based on the translation of the fifth chapter. The reason why I choose this chapter as the analysis object of this translation project report is that the chapter includes both the poems of Tsangyang Gyatso and comments and emotional expression of Nie Xiaoyang---two literary forms, double challenge!Full-text mainly consists of three parts. First chapter is the introduction part including the reason and intention for choosing the source text. The second part is the main body of the report and can be divided into three chapters: chapter one describes the background information, objective, significance and structure of the project; chapter two introduces and analyzes the source text, including the author, the text content, structure, its characteristics and expected translation difficulties; chapter three focuses on the introduction of Nida’s Functional Equivalence and the guiding significance as well as application of Nida’s Functional Equivalence in the translation process; Chapter four is about the translation difficulties and the solutions under the guidance of Nida’s “Functional Equivalence”.The third part is conclusion, summarizing the harvests in the translation and the problems remaining.Translation is a process of testing the translator’s vocabulary and language use, while the writing of the translation project report is a process of summary and analysis from a higher level. Trough the project, my translation ability and the ability to apply the theory to solve the problems has improved, meanwhile, I also have a better understanding of “Functional Equivalence”, thus will guide my translation in the future. Above all, I have a deeper understanding of Tibetan culture and religion and have a more optimistic outlook on life.
