The ways of grain storage before Qing Dynasty’s entry into Shanhaiguan Pass mainly divided into underground hoard and granary in two ways. After Nuerhachi established Hou Jin regime, the two ways existed at the same time for a long time. To the Huang taiji period, the grain storage way of Hou Jin(Qing Dynasty) to the direction of mainly granary gradually.There are a number of ways to get grain before Qing Dynasty’s entry into Shanhaiguan Pass: the eight banners reclamation farm, official donation grain, trade in the border market for food and wartime looting. Grain stored in the barn, need attention to ventilation and moistureproof, prevent grain from spoiling, pay attention to save grain, put an end to waste food. In addition, on the daily management of the granary, it’s also important to note the security work of granary. Of course, these work need to arrange special personnel to do, but it didn’t form a perfect system of granary management on personnel appointment before Qing Dynasty’s entry into Shanhaiguan Pass.Before Qing Dynasty’s entry into Shanhaiguan Pass the granary play an important role. First of all, granary grain provided eight banners officers and soldiers to fight the necessary food supplies. The second, when natural disasters occured, the sufficient grain reserves to help Hou Jin(Qing Dynasty) survived the threat of famine. Nuerhachi and Huang taiji also controlled the prices of rising food by Pingtiao. The last, the rulers before Qing Dynasty’s entry into Shanhaiguan Pass collected a large number of Han Chinese and Mongolian by issuing food, to expand the scale of Hou Jin(Qing Dynasty).
