Study On The Combination Of Scientific And Artistic Features Of The Ginger Flower Gallery

With the unique dissemination of information, botanical scientific painting has become an indispensable part of the botanical science research field. During the process of scientific illustration, pens are used to combine science and aesthetics, and depict works that are powerful in science, rich and authentic in content. Ginger flowers are mostly ornamental species with nearly 50 varieties. Properties of various colors and forms best characterize this type of flowers. How to unfold both the scientific rigor and the sense of beauty of the ginger flower gallery before readers eyes, and how to create a gallery combining both the scientific and artistic figures, are studied and discussed in this paper.Based on field investigation, field research, and photo collections of the anthesis and flower specimens of 24 kinds of ginger flowers, I compared and selected a couple pictures as painting models. I carefully figured out the reference scale for leaves and inflorescences,drafting with pencils first and then pens for lines with traditional Chinese drawing skills. The painting method mainly utilizes different length and thickness of lines with regular organization to show the external shape, internal organizational structure, feature position amplification and stereo effect, etc. I also paid attention to the use of both the long and short lines for the leaf vein, and to the shapes, colors, and aesthetic feelings of the flowers.With line drawings on color pictures, I gathered all the advantages of manifestation from specimen pictures, line drawing pictures, and photographs. What I did not only possesses the performance of professional and rigorous from specimen pictures, the performance of clear and stereoscopic from line drawing pictures, but also the color richness from photographs. In this way, we get to the best point of manifesting the combination of science and arts.The systematic editing of the ginger flower gallery is the first case in China. Therefore, it is necessary to carry out the research of this project. The project will provide academic related knowledge for ginger flowers scientists, producers and a large amount of fans. Since the gallery are professional but understandable, it will actually help more readers to get to know and enjoy this kind of flowers, attracting them to participate in the research, protection and development.
