Practice Report On The Chinese Translation Of The English News Of Air Pollution

Due to the increasing awareness of environmental protection, more attention has been paid to the environmental issues in economic development. Protecting environment is everyone’s responsibility. With the worsening haze in China’s northern parts, more attention has been paid to air pollution. The writer of this practice report translated some air pollution news in BBC and CNN websites into Chinese. On the basis of the translation, the present report is written. Analysis is made on the translation process.This report is composed of four major parts-- the description of the translation task, the description of the translating procedure, the case analysis of the translation and the conclusion. The description of the translation task part presents the background of the translation task, the client’s requirement and the features of the task. The description of translating procedure part is an introduction to the specific procedure of the translation. In the case analysis part, analyses are made on the translation problems and strategies concerning with the proper names, terms, titles and passive voice and further discussions are made on the ways to solve the similar translation problems. The conclusion part summarizes some unsolved problems in the translation practice.It is hoped that this report can be helpful for such translating activities.
