In recent years,as the agricultural economy booms, pollution caused by this fundamental sector has increasingly become a public concern. In this connection,Guangdong,a major agricultural province in southern China, has taken a host of steps to address the non-point pollution resulting from its agricultural activities. This report selects the Consultation Services for Environmental Monitoring of Pollution Control Demonstration Project Through Fertilizer Reduction(IBRD/GEF Guangdong Agricultural Pollution Control Project)-Work Report for the First Ten Months of2017(hereinafter referred to “The Report”)as the translation material. With a combination of words, photos and tables,The Report makes an introduction to the basic information of the project and work in the first ten months of 2017,illustrates monitoring methods and implementation schedules, and establishes work plans and schedules for the next stage. This translation report consists of six parts, exploring how the translator finishes his translation task with the guidance of German functional theory of translation. In the first part, the translator introduces the translation task and its objectives. In the second part, the translator demonstrates the pre-translation preparation, the schedule of the translation task, contingency plans and quality-control methods. The third part is the theoretical basis of translation.Case analysis, the fourth part,is the highlight of this report. In light of the three rules of Skopostheorie, the translator keeps in mind the functions of the text and purposes of the translation activity. The translator analyzes difficulties in the translation process at lexical, syntactical and textual levels while adopting division, combination among other translation techniques. After that, the translator conducts quality control through self-examination and feedback from others in an attempt to get a more acceptable translation, thereby achieving purposes of the target text. Finally, the report makes a systematic conclusion of this translation task.It proves the adaptability of Skopostheorie to the translation of reports through a lookback at the whole translation process.Meanwhile, the report points out the limitations of the translation and gives some suggestions, which will improve the translation quality and translator's proficiency and contribute to further studies in the translation of similar texts.
