| Teaching materials play a very crucial role in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. With the wide popularization of Chinese throughout the world, Chinese teaching materials are compiled in local languages among different countries. However, there hasn’t been a local Chinese teaching material in Georgia, the country where the writer works, English as the language adopted in its Chinese teaching materials. Learning Chinese through English, the students’passion are weakened and the study efficiency is low, to some degree. Taking two successful teaching books as examples, the thesis analyses their strengths and weaknesses, combining the writer’s teaching experience in Georgia in order to judge which one better fits the teaching reality in Georgia. The thesis consists of five parts. In chapter one,we introduce the background and significance of this subjectã€the object and method of this study, and then review the literature study of this subject. In chapter two, we analyze the current situation of Chinese study in Georgia. In chapter three, we draw comparisons between Happy Chinese (Book one) and Learn Chinese with me (Book one),which mainly compare the compiling and writing principlesã€the structure〠textsã€vocabularyã€cultural points and exercise arrangements between these two books. In chapter four, we put forward some advice and suggestions on the compiling and writing of local Chinese books in Georgia. The paper makes conclusions about the study in chapter five. |
