Compared to other foreign countries, Chinese teaching in Japan starts early,and has an advantage in terms of the amount and quality of textbooks.However,there has been lack of research on the issue, especially focus on one textbookor a set of textbooks. This thesis aims to make up for the deficiency. Amongall collections of1289Japan’s best Chinese teaching textbooks in the BaseOf International Chinese Teaching Materials Developing and Teacher TrainingOf Sun Yat-sen University, after a carefully filtering, Happy to Learn Chineseand Speak Chinese was chosen as the research object. Because it is the latestand most systematic set of Chinese Teaching textbooks in Japan which waspublished in2008by Waseda University International Corporation, anorganisation has high reputation in providing Chinese Teaching course forWaseda University, Japan.There are many worthwhile questions in the book to investigate andevaluate.The analysis of "Happy to Learn Chinese and Speak Chinese" outlinesthe advantages and disadvantages from the perspectives of vocabulary, grammar,subjects and topics, exercise and culture context,trying to give somesuggestions and clear objective and comprehensive review as some kind offeedback from China Chinese study to provide references for the ChineseTeaching text books (Japanese editions) writing.These sets of textbooks are extremely useful. They cover a wide range oftopics and are very practical. They focus on the learning style of Japanesestudents, with an emphasis on the ongoing changes of modern Chinese language and culture, and they also illustrate the differences of Mandarin used inmainland China and in Taiwan. However, there are some existing problems. Theteaching content and exercises in the primary teaching text books have not beendesigned well for students. For the senior teaching text books, the readingmaterials they choose are all in the same style. They need improvement incontent in terms of humour and interest.But despites that,in terms of thesystematic textbook set and the wide content cover range, Happy to Learn Chineseand Speak Chinese is an excellent Chinese Teaching textbook for Japaneselearners.
