The Research On The "Shaonan·caochong" Of The Book Of Songs

Cao chong of Shao nan shows that the newly-weds was uneasy when they recalled the wedding ceremony. The background causing the feeling is extremely related to Confucian ethical code and the old customs of marriage.On the basis of a vast amount of literature, the paper assures of the writing time, the author and the gist of the poem Cao chong and textually researches and discriminates the words and the substances with the method of the traditional studies of exegesis.Few researchers throughout the ages probe the writing time of Cao chong from the perspective of the poem Cao chong itself; on the contrary most of them do the research from the perspective of Er nan. With regard to the writing time, generally there are three opinions, i.e. 1)the poem is created at the time of King Wen in Western Zhou Dynasty; 2) at the time of King Yi in Shang Dynasty; 3) at the transitional period from Western Zhou Dynasty to Eastern Zhou Dynasty. After gathering lots of material, the paper considers that Cao chong is created at the beginning of Western Zhou Dynasty or the period of King Wen in Western Zhou Dynasty.According to the present material collected from China, Japan and Korea, there are five opinions for the author of the poem Caochong. they are the senior official’s wife, Nanzhong’s wife, the folk women, a senior official from Nanguo and the upper social strata at the beginning of Zhou Dynasty respectively. Based on the exquisite emotional description full of literary grace, it can draw inference that the author should be a noble woman receiving the higher education.On the whole, there are three opinions. They are the first marriage of the senior official’s wife, the woman in the boudoir missing her husband and Nanren meeting Shaogong. For thousands of years, lots of scholars mainly research in the first two opinions and the first two opinions are rivaled by the two academic schools----Han School represented by Mao Zheng and Song School represented by Zhu Xi. The scholars in Han School mainly sought the basis from the poem ---the women obey Confusion ethical codes against the impoliteness, while the scholars in Song school analyze the poem on the basis of the people’s inner emotion.
