The special sentence which marked by "Lian" and constituted a“(X)+lian+Y+ye/dou+VP” sentence structure is relatively common in modern Chinese. Based on a large number of real corpus, this article applied the theory and methods of Event semantics to study and analyze the syntax and semantics of this special sentence in detail. This paper is divided into six chapters. The first chapter is an introduction which introduced the research background, meaning and purpose, theory and research methods and the sources of the corpus. The research background includes Modern Chinese “lian……ye/dou” sentence, the research status quo of Event semantics. On the basis of previous research results, this papercreatively used event semantics analysis of “lian” sentences. This helps to understand and master structure and meaningmore comprehensively. The second chapter analyses classification of the “lian” sentences. From different angles, this paper is divided into typical “lian” sentences and atypical “lian” sentences, single “lian” sentences and complex “lian” sentences. The focus of this study is the typical singal “lian” sentences. The third chapter analyses the “(X)+lian+Y ye/dou VP” surfacesentence structure. This chapter discusses “X”、“Y” and“VP” in the “lian”sentencesrespectively. The forth chapter analyses the semantics of the “lian” sentences which includesemphasis, compare, presupposition and thoroughness. The fifth chapter uses the method of event semantics to describe and analyze “lian” sentences by formalize three structures of “Lian” sentences((NP1)+Lian+NP2+Ye/Dou+VP)for some basic exploration of natural language information processing. The sixth chapter is the conclusion. First, we derived the conclusion of this article. Then we presented some issues unresolved an expectations for future research.
