Sha Tuo Cavalry was a famous cavalry troop of north nomad, which had powerful fighting capacity and was invincible in Late Tang and Five Dynasties. Sha Tuo was a nomad which was a part of western Turks and lived in the Xin Jiang province. Because of the special condition of politics and military in Late Tang and Five Dynasties, Sha Tuo took chance and conquered the central plain by their unbeatable combat capability under the lead of Li Keyong and Li Cunxu. Then, They build The Later Tang,The Later Jin and Later Han dynasties. In the politics progress of Five Dynasties, many generals which were commanders of central guard, Jiedushis and state governors came from the Sha Tuo Cavalry. The cavalry troop was the main part of central guard in the 3 dynasties, which droved and affected the revolution of politics and military from Five Dynasties to the beginning of Song Dynasty.Because of the internal strife, shortage of horse, chinesization and revolution of central guard, this heroic cavalry disappeared on the stage of history. But for their inflexible strategy, there was an excellent chapter in the history of Chinese military.
