The general verb as a subclass of verb have always been favored by scholars.This paper selects the general verb "nong" to carry out the analysis.The general verb "nong" can replace many specific verbs to express a broad semantics.It is frequently used in people's daily communication.Therefore,it is necessary for the international students to acquire the usages of this word.However,the general verb "nong" is a key and difficult point in teaching Chinese as a foreign language,even for the advanced level international students.This paper aims to systematically analyze the characteristics of the general verb "nong",researching the second language acquisition of the general verb "nong" of advanced level international students through the methods of error analysis and questionnaire survey,trying to make a contribution to the improvement in teaching Chinese among international students as a foreign language by putting forward reasonable suggestions.There are five chapters in this paper.Chapter 1 is the introduction,involving three parts.Firstly,explain the significance and purpose of this paper.Secondly,summarize the previous research of some typical general verbs from macroscopic perspective,includingthe case study of,the comparative study,the study of the general verb in dialect and the study of the general verb in the field of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.Finally,the research methods and the corpus sources of this research are described.Chapter 2 is a multi-angle analysis of the general verb "nong",and tries to make a comprehensive description of the general verb "nong".First of all,the concept of the general verb is analyzed.it analyzes the semantic situation of the general verb "nong," and its ancient Chinese meaning.Modern Chinese meaning are also introduced.Secondly,there is a summary of the four categories of meaning,they are "nong 1"(play),"nong 2"(do,handle),"nong 3 "(take action to acquire),"nong 4"(upset).Then the semantic features of,"nong," is demonstrated with mainly disposition meaning and subjective small amount.In addition,"nong" is commonly used in spoken language,and dialect color,derogatory color is more intense.Thirdly,it analyzes the syntactic function structure of "nong" from aspects of the "nong" not following the composition,"nong" adding the object and "nong"adding the complement.Finally,the thesis introduces the pragmatic function of "nong"from the aspects of context relation,substitution function and fuzzy semantic function.In the chapter 2,the four categories of meaning and the three categories of syntactic functions are the basis of the study of the chapter 3 and the chapter 4.Chapter 3 is one focus of this paper.It uses the corpus retrieval analysis to research the error made by the advanced level students when learning general verb "nong".This paper divides the collected corpus into three categories:semantic error,syntactic error,and stylistic error.The typical cases of these three categories of errors are analyzed in detail.Finally,the reasons for the students' errors are explored,including the nature of the general verb "nong",the over-generalization of the target language knowledge,the negative transfer of the mother tongue,the defects of the teaching materials,the misconduct of the teachers'teaching and the students' learning strategies.Chapter 4 explores the difficulties met by the advanced level students when acquiring the general verb "nong" with the method of questionnaire survey.By combining the corpus's corpus,my own teaching experience and the previous questionnaire helped to design a questionnaire for the acquisition of the general verb "nong".There are three types of questionnaires,namely,multiple choice questions,judgment questions and translation questions.These questions are also from the semantic,syntactic and stylistic aspects to examine the advanced level students acquiring the general verb "nong" on the difficulty of distribution of the situation.After the distribution and collection of questionnaires,59 valid questionnaires were received.According to the analysis:the difficulty of learning the four categories of meaning of the general verb "nong" from high to low is "nong 3","nong 4","nong 2","nong 1".In the syntax of the difficulty from high to low is "nong" adding the complement,"nong" adding the object,"nong," not following the composition.The stylistic aspect is easy to acquire for the advanced level students.Based on the previous chapters,chapter 5 proposes some strategies on the acquisition of the general verb,"nong" among advanced level students,especially in errors and difficulties of distribution.The strategies are based on three aspects,classroom teaching,students' learning strategies and the preparation of teaching materials,hoping to develop the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.
