This is a translation report of Adolescents, Crime, and the Media(chapter 4)by Christopher. J Ferguson published in March,2013. This book critically examines perceptions of some violent phenomena, such as campus shooting, gang assault, school bus ambush and so on, through the lens of the ongoing relationship between generations of adults and youth. A wealth of research findings transcends the standard nature/nurture debate, analyzing media effects on young people’s behavior, brain development in adolescence, ways adults can be misled about youth’s participation in criminal acts, and how science can be manipulated by prevailing attitudes toward youth. The report consists of four chapters: Chapter One is a translation project introduction, mainly including project background, significance and the structure of the report. Chapter Two is a textual analysis, mainly including author Bio, analysis of the text content, text structure and the style; Chapter Three is about translation difficulties and corresponding solutions, which is the key point of this report; Chapter Four is a conclusion, mainly including enlightenment and problems left to be solved.
