This is a translation project report on Adolescents, Crime, and the Media: A Critical Analysis(Chapter 3). The 3rd chapter of the source text examines researches related to the effects of fictional media on beliefs about crime prevalence and involvement of minorities in violent crime etc, and discusses the portrayal of youth in fictional crime media, especially directed at relation between adolescents and older adults. This translation report puts much emphasis on difficulties in the course of translation and their relevant methods illustrated by specific examples. How to render English nouns and adjust different word orders poses predominant difficulties to the translator. Accordingly, proper translation methods, such as conversion, semantic extension, diction by context and four characters and restructuring, are employed to maximally convey messages and make the target text more readable and acceptable.
