A Translation Project Report Of Technology And Social Power(Chapter 7)

This is a translation project report on the translation of Chapter Seven “Digital Aesthetics in Technology and Social Power” authored by Graeme Kirkpatrick, a renowned British sociologist, who explains systematically in his work the rapid development of technology and its tremendous influence on human society in the light of sociological theories. The selected chapter is centered on digital aesthetics and technocracy. The thesis primarily addresses the difficulties in translating sociological works and the relevant translation theory, methods and techniques, with the difficulties being the understanding of the source text, the diction in the target language and the presentation of textual logic. The thesis analyses the theory of Hermeneutic Motion in application, the translation methods of literal translation and free translation as well as techniques of addition, omission and division etc. applied in the translating process, aiming at providing some references for the translation of sociological texts.
