This is a translation project report of Urban Risk Assessments: Understanding Disaster and Climate Risk in Cities. The original version is a product of the staff of the World Bank. It is one of The Urban Development Series discussing the challenge of urbanization and what it will mean for developing countries in the decades ahead. Therefore, translating the source text is of great use for Chinese decision makers such as city managers, and mayors, and urban practitioners and technical staff at the municipal, regional, and national levels. The translator chooses Chapters 1 and 2 as the source text. This translation report is divided into four chapters: Chapter One is the description of the translation project, including the project background, objectives and project structure. Chapter Two is an introduction to the source text, including the content and analysis of the source text. Chapter Three is about translation difficulties and methods. Therefore, the translator, with Newmark’s communicative translation theory as guidance, adopts relevant translation methods to ensure the readability and coherence of the target text. Chapter Four concludes with the inspiration and lessons in the project.
