This translation project report is on the translation of Introduction and Chapter One from Quality in Professional Translation Assessment and Improvement written by Joanna Drugan. Translation quality has long been the focus of academic research and translation industry, and the evaluation for translation quality has never ceased. But there are still no absolute objective criteria for assessing the quality of translations. Concern for quality has been evident as long as translation has taken place, but the industry’s focus on quality has been intensified. Therefore, the writer of this report chooses some parts of this book in this translation project with the aim of providing advanced information for researchers of translation studies and an expected systematic evaluation model for translators. The translator chooses Introduction and Chapter One from Quality in Professional Translation Assessment and Improvement as the source text. Chapter One is today’s translation profession. It describes the condition and command, summarizes industry changes since the 1990 s and focuses on their relevance for quality. This translation report is divided into four parts. First, it describes the translation project, including the project background and objectives. Second the report is mainly about a brief introduction of author and type of source text. Then it focuses on the communicative translation strategy of Newmark, translation difficulties as well as relevant translation methods. Finally, the report concludes with the inspiration and lessons in the project.
