This report is based on the author’s CI practice which is about The Art of China from BBC documentary. The author holds the clue of “discovering problems-analyzing problems-solving problems” as the major way of thinking. The author will analyze and summarize the problems encountered during the interpreting task through her own experience, including: misinterpreting and misses of interpreting, disturbance of fluency and insufficient encyclopedic knowledge. Meanwhile, the author, through typical case analysis, studies the causes lying behind the problems. It then puts forward strategies from the perspective of interpretive theory and Gile’s Effort Model and other practical suggestions will be mentioned as well. The author hopes that the would-be interpreters can draw some lessons from her experience. And she hopes that this report might be of some help for interpreters to promote their interpretation skills by finding the right solutions and then overcome their own shortcomings.
