20th century witnesses increasingly maturer computer-aided translation,which improves efficiency and accuracy,especially in technical translation.Clinical Trials in Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis mainly introduces the clinical trials of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis,including trial design,end points,ethical considerations,organizations and biologics,which is written with plenty of professional terms and complicated sentences of great logic and objective words.It is a typical text of scientific English.18 chapters are contained in Clinical Trials in Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis.The book(except Chapter 1-3 and 9-14)is accomplished by a 4-person team,while the author translates Chapter 4,5 and 6,which explores clinical trials and end points,using SDL Trados 2017.Based on this text,the report analyzes solutions to major problems during the translation,such as how to adjust incorrect sentence segmentation after adding files into Trados and messed-up tables,in order to convey the meaning accurately.Through specific examples,the report mainly explores three problems: how to translate non-equivalents;how to handle long and complicated sentences with low scores;how to cope with the Trados’ influence on the coherence of the text.In terms of above analysis,the advantages outweigh its disadvantages while using Trados to translate medical text.In spite of complex operation,Trados could remarkably improve translation efficiency,and maintain style and term consistency for informative projects involved by many translators.Through the report,the author hopes to inspire investigators,pharmaceutical physicians and other pharmaceutical staff,to deepen translators’ understanding of computer-aided translation and to boost interdisciplinary cooperation.
