Chinese and Western medical exchanges are becoming more and more frequent.Domestic doctors need to not only read foreign literature to learn novel medical technologies, but let advanced domestic technologies go global. The human translation has been unable to meet the increasing needs;hence the emergence of computer aided translation software has alleviated the contradiction between the low efficiency of traditional translation and growing demand to a certain extent. The report used computer aided translation software SDL TRADOS 2017 to guide the translation of chapters 7 and 8 in the book Clinical Trials in Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis. The source text mainly talked about the ethical considerations and essential elements of the clinical trials, containing a large number of institutional names, medical terms and complex syntax.Firstly,a series of preparatory work is essential, such as software learning, parallel texts and corpus searching, terms extracting, and team memory establishing.Secondly, through probing into the choice of vocabulary in the term base, the characteristic and processing of sentences translation with different matching ratio, and the impact of SDL TRADOS on article coherence, the translation efficiency can be greatly improved with the use of CAT software;the skilled use of the software, large term base and team memories also can enhance the quality. Therefore, the author has compiled the term base and team memories of this translation practice to make a contribution to the expansion of the translation corpus in the medical field. Finally, the gains and experience of translation practice were shared, and the prospect of computer aided translation was proposed. The purpose of this translation practice report is to explore the practical guidance and limitations of computer aided translation for scientific and technological text translation through the use of CAT software to translate medical texts and to integrate language characteristics and translation skills.
