| Onomatopoeia is often used in our daily life. It is common to vividly express the theme of literary works. Words formed by mimic sounds are called “Onomatopoeia†which is the world’s most languages have. Because of different ethnicities, lifestyle, environment and regions, each nation’s perception of sound is also different. Thus, onomatopoeia words have both similarities and differences among various ethnic groups.Both Chinese and Myanmar have the habit of using onomatopoeia to modify their own languages. The use of onomatopoeia may appear in whether writing or speaking and it can make the expression meaningful. It can give students learning Chinese in Myanmar and students learning Myanmar in C hina a lot of difficulties and obstacles because of the different culture, ethnic and different mimic sounds. O nly comparative study of Chinese Myanmar “Onomatopoeia†can bring the successful progress of teaching Chinese as a foreign language. This paper is a comparative research of onomatopoeia between Chinese and Myanmar.This paper contains introduction part, brief purpose and meaning, the definition of onomatopoetic word,China and Myanmar’s current research on onomatopoetic words,research methods and the scope of this paper and the main source of corpus.The first chapter explains the contrast of Chinese Myanmar “Onomatopoeia†syllable structure. It’s the comparison of monosyllabic, two-syllable, multi-syllable structure of Chinese Myanmar “Onomatopoeiaâ€.The second chapter describes the contrast of C hinese Myanmar “Onomatopoeia†semantic category.It’s detailed description of the human voice, animal sound and the sound of C hinese Myanmar “Onomatopoeiaâ€, and then compared.The third chapter provides a grammatical feature of Chinese Myanmar “Onomatopoeiaâ€. It’s a comparison of predicate, attribute, adverbial and complement from grammatical point of view.The fourth chapter examines C hinese Myanmar “Onomatopoeia†pragmatic functions. It compares Chinese Myanmar “Onomatopoeia†rhetorical functions and expressional functions, and describes cultural characteristics of C hinese Myanmar onomatopoetic words.The fifth chapter analyzes the use of Ono matopoeia words by Chinese Myanmar students. It is also the enlightenment to the teaching of C hinese Onomatopoetic words in Myanmar.In conclusion, this research mainly focuses on the comparison of two languages in Onomatopoeia which can reduce the obstacles and difficulties in communication. Onomatopoeia not only has practical significance but also has theoretical value. This arouses my curiosity and research interest. So far, the study of Onomatopoetic words has few academic achievements. Although many sc holars have studied C hinese Onomatopoeia, Myanmar O nomatopoeia research is not found. Now many scholars are very interested in the comparative analysis of the two languages. I believe that the comparative study of Chinese Myanmar “Onomatopoeia†is very important in teaching C hinese as a foreign language. I will find some different functions of Chinese Myanmar “Onomatopoeia†in this paper. I think in the teaching process, understanding the differences between two languages can help learners to avoid errors and can develop learning second language skills and language expression ability. This paper will help language learners to correct the use of onomatopoetic words and make up for the deficiency of teaching C hinese as a foreign language. |
