In Tang dynasty, the banquet was popular, and many governors would talk about some of their legendary experience, and these experiences might be recorded in novels by their literati. In addition, the literati would also organize parties, and at these parties, many odds and miracles were spread, and the literati paid much attention to collect these stories and recreate them to change the oral stories into reading text. To show their thanks to their governors’ appreciation, the literati had more obvious purpose in writing the novels, show their talent or please their governors, and sometimes the novels would become the political tools of airing their governors’ grievances.
