A Report On Liaison Interpreting Of Inter-country Adoption In Shijiazhuang

As a report on liaison interpreting of inter-country adoption in Shijiazhuang City Social Welfare Institute, the main task was liaison interpreting for an American family to adopt an orphan in Shijiazhuang City Social Welfare Institute in June, 2014. The author selected the conversations during going through the formalities in registration office and notary office and a return visit to Shijiazhuang City Social Welfare Institute as the cases to be analyzed, to find and solve the various problems in the interpreting scenes by using the relevant theories and strategies.The paper is divided into three parts. The first part is a introduction of the task, which emphasizes the content and nature of it. The second part is a introduction of pre-interpreting preparation, which stresses three stages as "early pre-interpreting preparation", "later pre-interpreting preparation" and "preparation in the interpreting scenes", and narrating the details and revelations of each stage. Then in "interpreting stage", the author introduced the actual situation of the task and listed some original sentences and translated sentences, from which the author summarized what the comprehensive quality a translator needs. The third part is case analysis. In this chapter, the author selected some typical examples and used the interpretative strategies as "re-framing discourses", "semantic extension" and "semantic variation" to analyze them under the guidance of translation theory of the Interpretive School. In addition, the author described some unexpected situations and the methods to solve them.At last, the author summarizes the importance of advance preparation of translation, which is helpful to the interpreters. Moreover, some unexpected situations and other factors improve the psychological qualities of interpreters, which lay the foundation for the success of every interpreting task in the future.
