As a practice report on interpreting, this report describes one interpreting task ofinter-country adoption conducted by the author for a family from Finland.A lot of works are involved in the whole task. The author chose all the contents ofinterpreting at the registration office, the notary office, the charity house and duringsightseeing as examples to analyze the specific problems which actually happened during thepractice and how to strike the balance between fidelity and autonomy; and also to summarizethe interpreting approaches and solutions.This report is divided into three parts. The first part is the detailed description of thepractice, including background and processes. This part is focused on the preparation andemergencies. The second part is the analysis of the three kinds of specific problems: Chineseway of thinking, differences in cultures and languages and professional knowledge. Theauthor also lists the interpreting approaches and solutions like literal translation, freetranslation and adaptation used in practice. The last part is the conclusion. Through thispractice, the author has realized that the importance should be attached to pre-interpretingpreparation, the accumulation of basic and encyclopedic knowledge and comprehensivequality. |
