On Liaison Interpreter’s Subjectivity From The Perspective Of Intercultural Communication

From the perspective of intercultural communication, the author analyzes liaison interpreter’s subjectivity based on her practice as a liaison interpreter. The author describes her interpreting practice to prove liaison interpreter’s subjectivity is reflected in different stages of interpreting. Based on her practice, the author tries to illustrate liaison interpreter’s subjectivity by defining liaison interpreter’s roles as liaison, communication facilitator, cultural mediator and turn manager in addition to interpreter. To further improve the quality of interpreting, liaison interpreter needs to give full play to subjectivity by enhancing intercultural communication skills and using proper interpreting strategies.
