Statistics show that China’s total number of the elderly over the age of 60 has exceeded 190 million, occupying 14.3% of the total in China, equivalent to the world’s 21.4% of the total number of elderly people. The above data shows that the world has entered the aging time. In order to deal with this situation the World Health Organization(WHO) put forward the global development strategy——Healthy Aging, one of whose important core is attaches great importance to the mental health in the elderly. According to the data that 20% of the elderly have more obvious anxiety and depression, the elderly mental health concern, arising from all walks of life have wide attention and care for the elderly mental health problems. Existing researches show that Alzheimer’s Disease(AD), depression and anxiety are most common diseases in the old age. A sampling survey, psychological characteristics and mental health care of the old, showed that because of the degradation of brain function and the changeful life, 70% of the elderly more or less have varying degrees of psychological problems, 27% of the elderly have obvious anxiety, depression and other mental disorders, and psychological problems have seriously affected the health and life quality of the old people. In order to alleviate the psychological health problems of the elderly, experimental methods are adopted to explore how the fitness dancing influences the depression and anxiety level of them, aiming at finding effective solution to the elderly mental health problems.Method: the literature method,experimental method,interview method, mathematical statisticsResult: The elderly depression scores have significant differences before and after the experiment(P<0.05).The anxiety scores of old people have very significant differences(P<0.01).Compared with control group, the elderly depression and anxiety scores of the experimental group have very significant differences(P<0.01). Comparisons before and after the experiment show that changes of depression factor, that’s life dissatisfaction, loneliness, poor memory, have significant differences(P<0.01). Anxiety factors, tension, limbs sweat, difficulty falling asleep and nightmares, has very significant differences(P<0.01). After the experiment, compared with control group, changes of depression factors, life dissatisfaction, feeling of unreality, helplessness, poor memory, life is full of vitality and inferiority feeling, have significant differences. The anxiety factors which have very significant differences are limbs sweat, difficulty falling asleep and nightmares.Conclusions:(1)Experiments prove that fitness dancing can effectively relieve the depression of the old.(2)After 12 weeks of fitness dancing exercise, anxiety of the old people has effectively improved.
