Harmonious family is the cornerstone of a harmonious society and the relationship between husband and wife decides whether a family is concord. Frequent conflicts and communication barriers between husband and wife are bound to affect the entire family and further endanger the construction of a harmonious society. However, according to the Ministry of Civil Affairs announced earlier, the Statistical Bulletin of the social services development in 2013 shows that there were 3.5 million couples got divorced this year. Almost half of whom were born in the 1970’s and 1980’s married ones end in divorce. At present, domestic research on family and marital relationships are mostly theoretical and ideological. On the contrary, the practical and easily understandable guidance books are very rare. 7 ways to be her hero is exactly one of them, one of the best. The author Doug Fields is an expert of teenager and marital problems. He is renowned for his specialty of communication. Half out of over 60 books of him are dealing with the skills of communication and family relationships. I believe much can be learned from him.The report is on the translation of the preface and the first, third and fourth chapters of the book, 7 ways to be her hero. With the description of the translation process and using relevant translation theories to guide and solve problems encountered in the translation, my capabilities are ultimately improved. It consists of five major parts.Introduction briefly describes how the marital relationship influences the society, and the reason why I chose to translate this book. The first chapter is a brief introduction to the author and the book. It also describes the value the book has as a selected text for my translation. The second chapter describes the whole translation process, including the works I’ve done pre-translation, in the translation and after it.The third chapter has an brief introduction to Nida’s theory of functional equivalence. Solve the problems encountered by some specific cases combining the theory and translation strategies. The last part of this paper summarizes the experiences I’ve got and problems remain.
