December 8,1953,With the introduction of Eisenhower′s Atoms for Peace Program, The United States entered into the era of development nuclear power.Under the encouragement,funding of government,Private companies to build nuclear power plants actively,Since then,The United States built a large number of nuclear plants.Hoever,With the enchancement of public awareness and the exposure of disadvantages of nuclear power,Leading to the rise of the anti-nuclear movement.Large quantities of nuclear power plants built and the potential risks of nuclear proliferation,coupled with the inherent environmental philosophy,Prompting the Sierra Club launched the battle of Bodega Bay Nuclear Power.With the help of public as well as a variety of forces,The Club successfully blocked PG&E′s the proposal of building nuclear power in Bodega Bay.With the victory of the Battle of Bodega Bay Nuclear Power,and the contradiction between the development of nuclear power and environmental protection increasingly,The government agencies and environmental organizations are actively involved in the Battle of Sundesert Nuclear Power.During the same period,The United States took place Three Mile Island accident,Completely destroyed the proposal of Sundesert Nuclear Power.From 1950 s to 1970 s,The anti-nuclear movement of United States has achieved some success,Including the process of development nuclear power and the policy, At the same time, it has great reference value to the development of the other Country’s nuclear power industry. But there are many shortcomings.The thesis is divided into three parts in the structure:The first part is an introduction,Mainly includes three aspects,The purpose and significance of writing paper,Domestic and international research review,Research features and innovations.The second part is the body of the paper,Mainly includes three aspects,First discussed the development of nuclear power plant in the United States from 1950 s to 1970 s,Second examined the rise and development of anti-nuclear power plant during this period,Finally evaluated it.In the first part,first elaborated the peaceful use of atomic energy program was proposed,content and impact,then disscuss the nuclear power of US from 1950s-1970 s,it was divided into initial development period,the rapid development period,and a period of decline.In the second part,after understanding the rise background of anti-nuclear power plant movement and an overall movement situation,discusses the US anti-nuclear power plant was representative of the two events in this period. The Battle of Bodega Bay Nuclear Power discussed from the background,process,and policies three areas,analysis of the US anti-nuclear power plant situation during this period. The Battle of Sundesert Nuclear Power discussed from the background,basic force,and characteristics three areas,analysis of the US anti-nuclear power plant.In the third part,evaluated the US anti-nuclear power plant,first elaborated the affects of the movement,namely the impact on the US government policy,slowing the process of development of nuclear power in the United States,as well as reference values for other countries to develop the nuclear power.The second analysis anti-nuclear power plant movement limitations,namely the Nuclear Regulatory Commission reform problem and the limited impact on the public.The third part is the conclusion,summarize and analyze the movement of the US anti-nuclear power plant from 1950s-1970 s.
