As a language form, existence sentences are used to represent different things. Used as a sub-sentence pattern of existential sentences, existence sentences are a special kind of sentences in Chinese. They have their own particularities in their structures, semantics, expression function as well as the use of verbs. As to the Chinese existence sentences study, we cannot miss heat debate no matter in macro or micro aspects or towards diachronic or synchronic studies. Chinese existence sentences study has always been the focus of Chinese teaching as a foreign language. this article works on the Chinese existenial sentences through its sentence structures, pragmatic features as well as its cognitive features. based on all the things above,additional with the study of mistakes made by foreign students in the process of studying Chinese existenial sentences. The corpus of my paper is mainly come from the Ohio State University —Critical Language Scholarship Program of State Department along with the composition materials of more than 30 American college students who are now in Suzhou as well as dynamic composition corpus of HSK. After classifying, counting and having a deep analysis of these corpus, we noticed that, due to the negative transfer of their mother tongue, the over generalization of target language rules, limit of the target language, the factors within the language and the factors of textbooks and teachers etc. students often feel puzzled in learning Chinese existence sentences, the obstacles could be incompletion, redundance, misuse, improper word order as well as pragmatics problems, all of these have become difficult points in the process of learning Chinese existence sentences. On account of the important and difficult points above, with the examining of some relevant Chinese textbooks and combining with my own experience of teaching Chinese as a foreign language, in order to better promote the compilation of textbooks and improve classroom teaching thus help foreign students understand and master Chinese existence sentences more effectively, we will give my own advice on such aspects as follows: teaching strategy, teaching material, classroom teaching and so on.
