With the rapid development of China’s economy and the boom in the publishing industry, more and more foreign language books were introduced to China. For now, most of foreign language books were translated by an individual or a small translation team. The quality of the translation and the professional quality of translators have become important issues.This is a translation project on the second chapter of high level in well-being and low level in well-being people written by youyichi chida who is a psychiatrist and a psychotherapist. In this book, many scientific experiments, examples and research results from the psychiatry and psychology were used to prove that your faith decide your life. The text for translation is mainly about the introduction for ten kinds of personality disorders.This report is mainly divided into five parts. The first part is a brief introduction about the content and substance of this report.The second part is the review for research questions including the translation and introduction of foreign language books and psychology books; research for the positive psychology. The third part is the preparation made before translation began, including the introduction to the author and the main content of the source text, the analysis of the source text and the theoretical guidance of the functional translation approach. The forth part discussed the translation difficulties and the translation skills adopted in the process of translation with examples.The last part is a general summary about the inspirations, and problems unsolved in the process of translation.This report suggests that in books translation, the translator should follow the principle of function plus loyalty and balance the realitions of the target language readers,the authors and the clients. The author also hope that the translation strategies and skills discussed in this paper can be helpful to books translation.
