In simple terms,translation is an activity that a language is expressed in another one based on accurate understanding(WuFeng,2014,P1).In the process of translation,there are many translation skills and strategies which are supported by many theories studied and summarized by many experts.On account of different types of text,the translation methods are used in different ways.The text chosen by the author is a book whose topic is Positive Psychology---The Science of Happiness and Flourishing written by William C.Compton and Edward Hoffman.This book is a teaching material of a university in America.It mainly introduces the knowledge of positive psychology and how to maintain a positive and healthy attitude.It also has great practical significance and helps college students to maintain a positive attitude and help them to be active in their daily life.Besides,it hopes that students can continue to expand and develop the research in this field.The type of this book is the text of humanities and social sciences,which language is characterized by accuracy,specialization,standardization and conciseness.The article mainly focuses on explanations and argumentation,and it is rigorous and formal in expression.There are a lot of nouns in this book because of the linguistic features mentioned above.While translating,the author of the report found that some nouns can't be completely translated according to the parts of speech in the original text,and the parts of speech of these nouns need to be converted and adjusted.In addition,some other parts of speech need to be converted.Therefore,the author of the report have chosen the words aspect to analyze in the translation practice report in detail by summarizing the difficulties in translation.In terms of theory,the author of the report has learned the theory of language adaptation.Under the guidance of this theory,the author of the report adopted the translation strategy of the parts of speech conversion in combination with the selected aspect.In addition,the author of the report has analyzed the case according to the differences between English and Chinese.Through this translation practice,the author of the report has accumulated practical experience and improved ability in translation.Besides,the author of the report has deeply understood the theory of language adaptation and the strategy of the parts of speech conversion.However,there are many shortcomings in this text translation,the author of the report will continue to learn translation skills to make progress.
