Chinese affixes being a complex linguistic aspect in Chinese grammar proves difficult to understand for non-natives in the course of learning the Chinese language, therefore, a deep and detailed intercultural comparative study becomes necessary for its better understanding. With the target being the Chinese personal affixes, this study work under the broad category of affixes examines selected affixes such as "老","阿" and sixteen other personal affixes as its research focus. This research work examines personal affixes in the Chinese and Indonesian language, probing into their origin, complexity, structural meaning and examining their areas of similarities and differences.Furthermore, with the aim of conducting a detailed and refined analysis, this study with the aids of questioners examines intermediate and advanced Indonesian students of Chinese, probing into the factors that lead to the misuse of these affixes and also putting forward relevant and applicable teaching suggestions.
