On The Importance Of Hand Painting In Modern Design

Since the application of computer technology in the field of art design in themid-1980s, the art design including its contents, methods and means have changedrevolutionarily affected by the rapid development of computer technology. With theextensive use of computer graphics technology, the traditional hand-painted designs aregradually replaced by computer graphics. However, we must recognize that the traditional artof painting is the fundament of art design, for it is a comprehensive exercise of the designer’sart abilities about observation, creativity, performance and integration. Hand-painting isirreplaceable because it is more intuitive, vivid and quicker to show the design contentcomparing with the computer, and hand painting is the most basic means of design expression.This article will put forward some ideas and questions about the position and application ofhand-painted art in contemporary art designs in five levels, and discuss that further morebased on the five levels.The first part is Art Design Review. In this part, through reviewing the art design concept,we will foreshadow the background, purpose and meaning of this study, also we will analyzethe characteristics and relationship between modern art design and the post-modernist design.The second part is the role and application of hand painting in the post-modernist design. Inthis chapter we will analyze the hand-painting applications in different fields of design, andwhy the hand-painted art design is irreplaceable and different by discussing some practicalexamples. The third part is techniques and characteristics of hand painting. In this part we willstrengthen the argument of this article and understand hand painting more by studying thehand-painted features and characteristics of post-modernism period combined with the toolsand materials. The fourth part is about how to use hand painting rationally. In this part, basedon the significance of hand painting to modern design, we will elaborate that hand-painted artand computer technology are complementary in modern society. We should realize thetechnology influence to traditional art, and treat their relationship in the field of designproperly. The fifth part is about the review, summary and outlook of this discussion in thearticle.In short, by discussing the position and application of the hand painting in modern design art, the purpose of the article is to explore the essence of hand-painted art, to reflect itsirreplaceable value in the design. The design art can develop well only through the interactionand complement of hand painting and computer design which makes the design styleabundant.
